George’s fuel tank had been leaking for some time.  Eventually the discomfort of riding while soaked in petrol (quite apart from the very real danger) forced a stop. 

We selected the shade of a tree just past a gate as the “Workshop”.  Unsurprisingly (by now) we found a hubcap at the base of the tree.  The tank repair was not an inconsiderable task. 

After the repair compound was applied to the site of the leak there was nothing to do but wait for it to set.  The instructions on the pack stated two hours. 

We dozed for about an hour and then got underway again.
