First time for everything.
After a number of years of urging I finally went prospecting with Phil and Bill, north of Meekatharra. Â Believing that I would be parking the Patrol Wagon at Judges Mine, it wasn’t shod for the bush. The result was three tyres with sidewall stakes. Fortunately I had two spares and lots of plugs.
Phil loaned me all the best prospecting gear including a high-end detector and a customised backpack. Even with expert tutoring from Phil and Bill I didn’t find any gold.
But it was a good walk around the bush.
- My camp set up.
- Phil’s Cruiser at camp.
- All the gear.
- Modern day prospector.
- Prospective country.
- Hot mound
- Gold, maybe.
- No gold here.
- Bill
- Auriferous country.
- There’s gold on that ridge.
- Gold, maybe.
- Hot mound.
- Another hot mound.
- Hot mound
- Parking bay at the 26th parallel where I changed two wheels.
- Great Northern Highway.
- Three stakes in relatively good tyres.
- Staked tyre
- Another one.
I’m in no rush to go prospecting but certainly would not be averse to repeating the experience.
