The current day extent of the Walpole Wilderness was created in 2004. It features a vast, natural and wild landscape that embraces the very essence of Western Australia’s southern forests and coast.
Majestic old jarrah, tingle and karri forests surround imposing granite peaks, intermingled wth peaceful rivers, wetlands and tranquil inlets. On the coast there are sandy beaches, sheer and sometimes spectacular cliffs, and the relentless, ever-rough Southern Ocean.

The Walpole Wilderness encompasses seven National Parks and 360,000 hectares. That’s bigger than 37 of the world’s sovereign nations.
A major feature of the Walpole Wilderness is the remarkable Mount Frankland.
At the side of Little Mount Frankland is a fine example of Parks and Wildlife’s increasing stock of excellent infrastructure – the Wilderness Lookout – providing a universal, high quality experience.
