Murray Darling River System

The Murray Darling River System is a combination of the full length of the Darling from its hydrological source at Mt Superbus, Queensland to where it joins the Murray River at Wentworth, NSW and from there along the Murray River to its mouth at the Southern Ocean in South Australia

The length of the Darling River from its hydrological source is 3084 kilometres. The length of the Murray River from Wentworth to the mouth at Southern Ocean is 832 kilometres giving a total length of 3916 kilometres.

This acceptance of the parameters of the Murray Darling River System gives weight to the existence of the Darling River as Australia’s longest.
