The Encyclopedia Britanicca states :
“The main source of the Darling is usually considered to be the Severn, which becomes successively the Dumaresq, Macintyre, Barwon, and, finally, the Darling”
The Britanicca’s entry on their website is an unattributed quote copied from this website (www.adventures.net.au) relating to Australia’s longest ever power boat journey (since removed to avoid confusion). Caught out Britanicca! Naughty, naughty.
What’s that 100 year old phrase?:
“If you copy from one author, it’s plagiarism; if you copy from many, it’s research.”
Well, in this case, Britanicca copied from only one source which made it even more obvious.
But as plaigarismtoday.com states:
“Simply aggregating content from many sources does not make it research. Proper research requires acknowledging all sources and contributing original analysis or insight.”
Back to Darling River.
