The plan was to travel from Perth up the west coast to Coral Bay and then head inland to stunning Karijini National Park. Through the Pilbara to tropical Broome where we planned to stay a few days. We would then visit some of the amazing gorges along the Gibb River Road. The trip through the Kimberley would finish at Wyndham and Kununurra from where we would take a flight to the Bungle Bungles.
Leaving Western Australia we would head to Timber Creek and Katherine before visiting world famous Kakadu National Park. We would then head to the Top End town of Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory. Litchfield, Mataranka and Tennant Creek evoke visions of the iconic outback. Our journey south through the Territory would take us to Devils Marbles, Alice Springs, Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
The return trip to Perth would be along the Stuart Highway and Eyre Highway, passing through Ceduna, Eucla and Kalgoorlie.
