Southern Thailand beckoned, October 2016. From the resort town of Hua Hin it is a short drive to the Monsoon Valley Winery. The appearance and operation of this venture is very Australian – by unconscious influence or deliberate design is unknown.
Initially I was unsure if we were on the correct road but we managed to find the winery/vineyard in the Hua Hin hills. From there we headed south on Route 4. We had hired a 4WD vehicle in Hua Hin for our southern Thailand foray.
I wanted to get off the main roads and see some ‘country Thailand’.
The market at Sam Roi Yot looked interesting so we stopped for a walk around.
I drove into Sam Roi Yat Beach, past its protected harbour.
Not far from the National Park, I turned off Route 4 to find a resort by the beach. Kuiburi Resort was our home for the night.
Come morning we continued to head south. Past Surat Thani to beautiful Khanom where we stayed the night.
From Khanom we headed back towards Hua Hin, however, as night approached we looked for somewhere suitable to stay the night. The Kuiburi Resort where we stayed two nights previously was a convenient choice.
Next morning I headed back to Hua Hin, returned the hire car and caught a taxi back to Bangkok.
