Old Mount Jackson Track

Old Mount Jackson Track
(Reconstructed)

  • Inferred routes — tentatively accepting as correct based on available evidence
  • Interpolated routes — “best guess”  routes that connect the inferred routes

The Old Mount Jackson Track ran from Yarragin to the Mount Jackson goldfields. It was used by prospectors, teamsters, pastoralists and travellers generally until other routes took precedence.

A brief history of Wattoning noted that in 1894  there was a splendid road from Yarragin to Mount Jackson, past the Wattoning homestead. with an abundance of grass, plenty of water in the rocks and permanent water at wells and soaks.

Little is known about the Old Mount Jackson Track.
