Toolinna Cove was the only suitable break in the Baxter Cliffs where supplies and materials for the 1877 East-West telegraph line could be brought ashore.

It is still the only place today where a boat can be landed between Point Culver and Twilight Cove.

Nearby Toolinna Rockhole is a natural waterhole that has been improved by a government dogger.
